We had just touched down in Cambodia a couple days back. We were staying at Simon's Guest house down near the rapidly-disappearing lake. We decided to shoot a music video, so we ran around the neighborhood with our camera and just took random footage on rooftops, in tuk-tuks, arcades, and other spots we planned on eventually becoming regulars at. We got a lot of strange looks but even more smiles.
I wrote and recorded "So What" in Cambodia - we recorded it at the Klap Ya Hands studio. Those boys were crazy good to us. They fed us, put us on dope shows, and basically gave us free access to their studio. HUGE shouts. Anyway, the challenge was to shoot and edit a video for the track in one day. Our people Berko and Catriona are bonzo talented and they helped us shoot and also with locations (a lot of it was shot in their apartment. Much love.
Quesfire is the ill MC from the BX. He approached felecia to do a video for his new banger "re-up". I initially tagged along so I could see all the shots they got, which would make it easier for me to ultimately edit the project. While we were waiting, though, felecia was like, spills why don't you just direct it. The idea for this was just mad shots, quick cuts, and something that reflected his insane energy.
Otis came to us to a video for his song "gifted" which is about how gifted he is. He had a couple hours studio time in a nice studio so he said he wanted to shoot it there. The thing aboutcha boy Otis is that he is a sick MC but he's the DOPE engineer as well. Plus he makes some bangin beats. So we were like OK, why don't we do a video where you in the booth spittin, while, AT THE SAME TIME, you behind the boards in the control room. Or something like that. We had about 3 hours to shoot the whole thing, but it was a blast.
